bit of inspiration

It’s easy to get caught up in things. Like checking off to-do’s from the list, running errands, trying to meet a deadline or get to a meeting. It’s easy to just forget that to persevere through the challenges and toughest times, where you are doing those things, you need a moment of rest. A moment that is completely yours. A moment where you gain inspiration that fuels the engine that allows you to go.

We spoke about being slightly burnt out at the end of 2017 and going into 2018, I was motivated in the areas that didn’t real fuel my inspiration for the things that mean so much to me, my career and my blog. I’ve been motivated {perhaps even distracted, but dare I use that word?} by my personal life. Lacking inspiration meant I needed an escape from reality and since personal admin had prevented me from finding a new place to wander be it a city-break or a complete emancipation from the hemisphere.

So I decided to on a staycation at the luxury hotel in Chelsea Draycott Hotel, nestled in a major shopping area of London—it’s where the aristocrats once wined, dined and stayed and today a bustling spot for socialites and luxury labels. So for you, a story, or a Draycott Hotel review.

I got off the tube at Sloane Square and you’re immediately confronted by the cars, hackney carriages, and people milling about. In this part of town, you barely find people who are commuting—but mostly just locals and avid shoppers. Carefully navigating the roundabouts and into a quiet street that just overlooked the busier bit of Chelsea, I made my way to a row of homes that camouflaged the gorgeous Draycott Hotel in its full Edwardian splendour. This Daycott Hotel review is incomplete without a mention about its architecture!

The inside in its original glory boasted the vast collection of antiques in all varieties from sculptures to vases and paintings to frames. With its maze-like qualities, the hotel sits erect much like a home as it once was and thus provides the perfect sleep as one.

We were taken up to our suite through a winding staircase, where a long hallway that was the artery to three rooms greeted us. As we walked in, the bathroom, fit for busying two bodies. What spent like hours of self-reflection and a proper spa retreat, I finally made my way to the kitchen and made myself some tea, grabbed a snack and went to the bedroom. The suites come with a full kitchen making it the perfect place to stay for a family or for anything long-term. This Draycott Hotel review doesn’t do the room justice!

The room and lounge, with its juxtaposing colors, was delicate and quaint. Lots of personal details like books, fresh flowers, a handwritten note and even a teddy bear. The fire roared as we sat hand-in-hand listening to the crackles as our gaze intermingled and then we said goodnight.

We decided not to close the curtains for the evening as we wanted to naturally wake up from the sun and it did spoil us with its grace that morning. Overlooking the gardens, it felt palatial as our view looked over the square and the streets that met the true centre of Chelsea. We had breakfast in bed, an eggs florentine for me along with a basket of pastries of course, and made our way through the boutiques and shops first thing.

The stay was much too short, as I could have easily stay for longer, but it felt like the perfect escape {in time and place} that truly brought inspiration back as I so sought after. Is there anything I missed in my Draycott Hotel review?
